I like motorcycles. More specifically, I like riding my motorcycle for long distances. My mount of choice is a 1985 BMW K100 RS. The old girl just clicked over 100K miles this summer. I have always enjoyed traveling and since my time always seems limited I started getting my riding in whenever I could. A spare weekend meant a trip around the Great Lakes. Nothing to do on a Saturday? Time to go see the Arch in St. Louis. A few years ago I found the LDRiders List and the Iron Butt Association. Come to find out, there were quite a few others that enjoyed roaming the countryside for the pure joy of the ride. In October 1996 I documented my first 1000 mile day. I took a lap around Lake Michigan in about 21 hours. It seemed like quite a feat at the time. The bike was still in stock form and I just barely had a clue as to what it took to compress miles into the time allotted. Below are the accounts of some of the rides I have done. |
